Autumn is coming and that means that you need to take extra care of your skin. When the weather gets colder the humidity decreases both inside and outside, which can result in dry skin if you are not careful. If you want tips on how to avoid a dry winter skin then read on here:
Dry skin is usually found on the face, on the hands, and on the arms and legs. The characteristics of dry skin can be that the skin starts to scale, becomes red, irritated, and starts to itch.
Problems with dry skin occur most often at the changing seasons, especially in autumn and winter.
Besides the weather, there are other factors that play a role in relation to your skin. It can, for example, be excessive use of soap or too much sun.
Here are 5 good and easy tips you can use in your everyday life to avoid dry skin:
- Make sure to drink plenty of water.
Moisten the skin from the inside!
- Air out your home and turn down the heat
A hot and humid climate dries out the skin
- Do not spend too much time in direct sunlight
Use sunscreen and avoid too much sunbathing or solarium
- Only shower once a day
Use a mild shampoo and soap that does not dry out the skin
- Use a good moisturizer after showering
After a shower, the skin needs to restore its natural oil/sebum balance
Dry skin and pH value
The pH value is a value indication of the acid-base balance. The pH value in humans is between 1-14 where 7 is the neutral point.
Healthy skin has a pH value between 4.5-7. If you have a pH value above or below these numbers, it means that your skin is not in balance.
But what does this mean?
The use of soap and skin care products with a higher pH value than the skin’s natural pH value can have a dehydrating effect which may cause irritation, dryness and a change in the bacterial flora.
It is, therefore, incredibly important to use products with pH values close to that of your skin. For this, we recommend our Face Moist, which has a pH value of 5.0 and it is, therefore, gentle on the skin. The same applies to our Body Lotion with a pH value of only 4.5.
How to treat dry skin
It is a good idea to use a mild Face Wash that has a pH value within 4.5-7.
Apply the products twice a day – preferably after showering in the morning. Remember to thoroughly apply the lotion to your entire body. Also, remember to use a good face cream. It is important to use a cream specifically suitable for the face because the skin here is thinner and more delicate than on the body.
Our Face Moist contains, among other things, Glycerine which has moisturizing properties as well as tocopherol which helps keep the skin free of unwanted bacteria.
